Welcome to the Jacob Gaskins Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), where we honor the legacy of our nation’s patriots through historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Our members are dedicated to celebrating American history and making a positive impact in our local community. Join us as we preserve the past and inspire future generations.
The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, invites you to take part in Wreaths Across America.
Help us reach our goal of 300 wreaths sponsored and join us in December of 2026, as we lay wreaths in a moving ceremony of remembrance at North Canton Cemetery. With your support, we will honor the service and sacrifice of the 300+ veterans laid to rest there.

WHO WE ARE
The Jacob Gaskins Chapter, NSDAR, was officially organized on May 17, 2025, in North Canton, Ohio, with 30 founding members. Named in honor of Jacob Gaskins, a former enslaved man who became a landowner, voter, and Underground Railroad operator in Plain Township, Stark County, Ohio, the chapter celebrates his legacy while promoting DAR’s commitment to historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

A Patriot, per the DAR, is someone who aided in the effort to gain American independence by serving or directly assisting in the Revolutionary War effort. Any woman showing a direct, ancestral connection to a Patriot is eligible for membership.
